Churches Malaga Iglesia de Santiago
Hours: Monday to Sunday 8 am to 1 pm and 6 pm to 8.30 pm.
Saturday: 9 am to midday.
This church is Malaga’s oldest and was built in 1487 after the city had once again been won back from the Moors.
Iglesia de Santiago was rebuilt in Mudéjar style in the 17th century.
The interior is predominantly Gothic but also partly Baroque.
There is a statue of St. Jacob at the main altar. Picasso was baptised here in 1881.
The church was damaged during the Spanish Civil War and was restored in 1944.
